The Hon. AILEEN MacDONALD (13:10:53):
I take note of the answer regarding regional social housing. A strong economy means more money for services and community amenity and less pressure on households. The Government has committed $13.7 billion over the forward estimates to reforms to provide long‑term benefits to the State, including housing. This investment includes $2.8 billion to deliver the Government's housing strategy to support housing supply and improve housing affordability. The Government's 2022 Housing Package will deliver $708.4 million to help single parents, older singles and key workers to buy a home through a shared equity scheme. The two-year pilot program will offer 3,000 places a year. The New South Wales Government is partnering with the community housing sector to deliver real outcomes for people of New South Wales, particularly in regional areas.
The Community Housing Leasing Program is one of many programs funded by the New South Wales Government to support delivery of social housing. The program provides around $86 million in funding to registered community housing providers to headlease properties from the private rental market to provide general and crisis-transitional housing. In 2021-22 community housing providers have delivered over 5,900 general housing dwellings under the Community Housing Leasing Program and more than 1,750 crisis and transitional housing dwellings.
