The Hon. AILEEN MacDONALD (12:33): I move:

(1)That this House acknowledges Streetwork and the early intervention and prevention programs it has in place.

(2)That this House notes that:

(a)Streetwork has been serving the Northern Sydney Region for more than 40 years; and

(b)Streetwork's early intervention and prevention program is available to the communities of the North Shore, Lane Cove, Hornsby Ku-ring-gai, the Northern Beaches and Ryde.

(3)That this House commends Streetwork for referring 12–18 year olds to their program which addresses mental health, substance misuse, school absenteeism, youth crime and homelessness.

(4)That this House acknowledges the support of local boards, local businesses, clubs, banks, churches and volunteers who contribute to improving the physical and mental wellbeing of vulnerable young children.

(5)That this House pays tribute to:

(a)the team at Streetwork including but not confined to:

(i)Helen Banu, OAM, CEO;

(ii)Nige Cottingham, Strategic Partner General Manager;

(iii)Tom Dent, Youth Services Manager; and

(iv)Cindy Penrose, Lawyer and Non-Executive Director.

(b)Peter Hobbs, OAM, who founded Streetwork in 1980 with a selfless desire to improve the lives of our troubled youth.
