Lifeline Broken Hill receives state funding boost for How's Ya Mate? mental health program

Lifeline Broken Hill Country to Coast has received a funding boost from the New South Wales government to expand the How's Ya Mate? program.

The program started in Broken Hill in 2016 and was aimed at helping AFL coaches speak with their players about mental health issues.

Several ex-AFL players have come to Broken Hill as ambassadors, this year Tadhg Kennelley and Kirby Bentley were present during the dedicated mental health round.

Minister for Western New South Wales Tara Moriarty said it had been a successful program locally.

"It's worked with AFL, so we want to expand it with other sports including netball, soccer, and other sports across the community," she said.
