The NSW Regional Woman of the Year award recognises the accomplishments of an exceptional woman living in regional NSW who inspires and advances their community and contributes to the fabric of their local area. Through her leadership, she has driven critical initiatives, including a free meals project, a health clinic within the shelter, and a birth certificate and ID program to assist vulnerable members of the community.
Her commitment to social impact extends beyond crisis services. With a background in senior roles supporting young people, Penny currently serves as Chair of Youth Action, the peak body for young people in NSW. In 2024, she brought global experts to Armidale for the Young People Doing It Tough conference, sparking important conversations about youth support services. Now, she is leading the development of Armidale's Youth Hub, which will provide a safe space for young people in the community.
